Grease Fleece

Yes, right off the sheep! Once skirted, the fleece is ready and I can bundle it up for you. You choose the fleece of any of our sheep, just contact us for the fiber colors you want.

Washed & Carded Fiber

Washing and carding at Tunbridge Woolworks takes most of the heavy work out. The fleece is washed and carded into batts (18" wide and 72" long). These are ready to be spun or felted.

Each year Land & Lamb works with Green Mountain Spinnery (GMS) in Putney, Vermont to spin the wool clip into a series of yarns by color.
For 2007 GMS did a double-twist single-ply in five natural colors (white, light gray, light brown, dark gray and natural black) at 1,000 yards to the pound. It is available in 4 ounce skeins as well as random weight cones. It is absolutely superb for both knitting and weaving with wonderful loft and softness. Contact us for yarn samples.
Remember: this is a small farm and when we run out, that's it for the 2007 vintage.

Using the facilities at Tunbridge Woolworks we make wonderful felt and, from that, hand-sewn mittens in three sizes (small ( 4" across the palm), medium (4.5"), and large (5"). Email me if you need a different size. These are warm, hand-washable and a totally Vermont product.

Wearable Art Socks

Hand-knit by Beth Roy using our Land & Lamb yarn in all five of the natural Navajo-Churro colors. Every pair is unique. Contact us with the length of your foot and we will match that with a pair of socks. They are just wonderful to wear with clogs (note the heel details) or black leggings or any time you need to just smile at/with your feet. Hand wash and dry flat (like any hand-knits).

Hand-woven Blankets

Blankets are made entirely with Land & Lamb's single-ply, double-twist, naturally-colored, Navajo-Churro yarn. The blankets are 42" wide and 60" long, not including the fringe.
Blankets are hand-washable and will get softer and softer with use and washing. Truly an heirloom, each is individually hand-woven on a hand-made Swedish Glimakra loom by Frank Tegethoff at his Black Reed Weavings studio in Wells River, Vermont. When Frank isn't weaving, he is a baker at King Arthur Flour in Norwich, Vermont!
